How Can I Exercise On An Airplane?

First of all, there is a cultural notion that exercise is a special activity that requires special clothes, shoes, and equipment. There is also the cultural notion that being still is a good thing, that it indicates maturity, seriousness, attention, responsibility. And these notions are literally killing us, especially when we travel by plane.

What I am referring to is the significantly higher risk of developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and other forms of blood clots when sitting on an airplane for extended periods of time. That risk can be significantly reduced by muscle activation, particularly muscle activation of the lower legs that stimulates blood flow back to the heart. Over the years many of my clients have asked for ideas and tips for reducing the discomfort and stiffness that comes with prolonged sitting. I have recently put together a simple movement routine that can be done while sitting. It is long compared to my other mindful movement videos, but my hope is that it will be a fun and effective tool. Feel free to use as much or as little of it as you like. And please feel free to comment or message me and let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
